SERVICES - WAYS OF WORKING TOGETHER
SMALLER PROJECTS
For smaller projects I offer a traditional Architectural Design service.
I am an experienced architect working independently.
You work directly with me from start to finish, benefiting from my experience designing healthy, sustainable timber buildings. I offer clear thinking, practical solutions, and hands-on attention—without hand-offs middle men, junior teams, or diluted responsibility.

Discuss how the different concepts may reflect your brand/aspiration.
A menu of options to compare with the cost expectations.

This stage is fun and discursive.
-
View the developed design of selected option from Stage 2.

See your design tested against regulations (planning etc.) to ensure that the design complies with building regs. and is buildable.

I check this stage against the project objectives as set out previously to measure against your objectives.
-
I produce technical drawings that can be built from in line with costing.
Selecting materials and finishes and writing specifications.
This stage often requires input of other engineers and specialists.
At the end of this stage you will confident to appoint a trusted contractor to which you will enter into a contract with to carry on the practicality of all the designs at hand.
By this stage you have had a certainty regarding costs, programme and expert advice as the construction begins.
-
The construction works are carried out by trusted contractors and supported by an experienced design and technical team.
I supervise the contractor to ensure the project is delivered to a high quality, and manage any design queries in keeping with the design.
-
We check that the construction has been followed and help with your handover and move.
We help you understand how things work, and how to get the most out of your new space.
We offer you a manual of processes, and systems on how your new space works. This includes list of how to use all furniture, materials and equipments safely and to its best capabilities.
-
I return to check any problems are fixed before the final payment is made to the builder.
You have the option for us to provide regular checks and audit of their space to ensure things are always functioning and the space is serving its purpose.

LARGER PROJECTS
For larger projects, I work as an RIBA Client Design Advisor (CDA), providing independent, impartial advice while the design is still being developed — when changes are easiest and most cost-effective to make.
This role helps prevent expensive mistakes later during construction or occupation. It also helps you clearly understand how the design will perform for your customers, your brand, and your business over time.
By supporting you through the design process, I help ensure your building:
Choose a team that meets your business and brand objectives
Performs well in use
Ages gracefully — wearing in rather than wearing out
Uses timber effectively for health and sustainability outcomes
This service is particularly valuable for organisations with high design aspirations but limited internal architectural or technical design expertise.
