Social housing on a tight infill site in the Pembury Estate in Hackney.

We developed a “super-normal” housing typology, which learns from the design and construction of interwar London County Council estates.

The “super-normal” homes provide well-designed dwellings for new residents and bring together communities by enriching the public realm.

The scheme has been submitted for planning and is awaiting a deed of variation agreement.

Our plan is to work within the LCC estates. To utilise gaps, redundant boiler houses, obsolete communal laundry blocks and unused covered parking areas on the original LCC estates to build the “super-normal” typology.
